Derek McCoy is a guitarist, teacher, and performer who loves sharing the joy of music
He first picked up a guitar at age 11 after finding an old Yamaha acoustic in his dad’s closet. From the moment he held it, he was hooked.
Over the years, Derek has explored styles like punk rock, jazz, and bluegrass. Each genre has shaped his unique sound.
Derek studied at the Atlanta Institute of Music in Georgia. There, he mastered music theory, improvisation, and ear training.
Today, he focuses on acoustic music, with a passion for bluegrass and jazz. He also teaches classical guitar techniques to his students.
